Multiple incidents of vigilante justice have occurred recently in different regions, reflecting a disturbing trend of individuals taking the law into their own hands.
In Aba, Abia State, a man was burnt alive by a mob for stealing a goat.
According to report, the young man was tied together with the goat and burnt alive with onlookers watching and taking pictures of the scene.
Some reports also mentioned that the young man while crying and begging for forgiveness, said he stole in order to feed himself and his wife.
In another incident in the Eastern region’ s farming community near Klo Agogo, a goat thief, along with two accomplices, stole goats from Tenguanya and tragically killed two men during their escape.
The three thieves were on a spree stealing goats in the Tenguanya community when alert young men raised an alarm.
Residents swiftly mounted motorbikes to pursue the thieves, but unfortunately, the goat thieves managed to overpower their pursuers and fatally shot two men.
Promptly alerted, members of a nearby town blocked the main road and confronted the thieves at Huhunya.
During the scuffle, two of the thieves successfully fled, leaving one behind.
The enraged mob captured this individual, tied him up, placed him in the car they had used for the operation, and set the vehicle ablaze, burning the thief alive.
