Otu, a young Ghanaian entrepreneur based in Tema, has taken legal action against Mercy Agyei, a contract staff at ABSA Bank, after their six- year relationship ended.
Otu alleges that he funded Mercy’ s education, established a business for her mother, and shouldered various financial responsibilities.
Their journey began in Kumasi, where Otu, after proposing marriage, took it upon himself to finance Mercy’ s university education.
As the relationship evolved, Mercy’ s mother suggested relocating her to Tema.
During her time there, Otu claims to have sponsored her HND program at Accra Technical University and her subsequent degree program at KNUST.
He also supported Mercy’ s younger brother and rented an apartment for her mother.
However, things took a turn when Mercy secured a contract position at ABSA Bank.
Allegedly, she informed Otu that she was no longer interested in their relationship, leaving him feeling betrayed.
Seeking compensation for his investments, Otu filed a case against Mercy at the Kumasi Circuit Court, demanding Ghc 350, 000.

Ina similar incident, a 22- year- old Onyinyechi Okegbulam from Egbu in Imo State was reportedly murdered by her boyfriend after she declined his marriage proposal, despite him sponsoring her education.
According to reports, she was lured out of her family house and shot in the head at close range.
Witnesses said the boyfriend tried to put her body in his car but fled when an alarm was raised.
Sources suggested that the boyfriend had financed Okegbulam’ s education, but she ended the relationship and decided to marry someone else.
The wedding was allegedly already planned when the tragic incident occurred.
Okegbulam was a final year student at Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.
” Some people, who were close to the scene of the crime that night, reported that as soon as the boy saw the girl approaching him, he fired at her, ” a source revealed.
” We heard that the boy picked the bills for the girl’ s education, but that the girl later abandoned the boy and opted to marry another man.
” We have even heard that the marriage has been fixed before the boyfriend struck, ” another source had said.
The police in Owerri according to a source initiated an investigation into the matter, with the cooperation of the victim’ s parents.
” Police have started investigating the incident and the late girl’ s parents are cooperating with us. Police will get to the root of the case, ” the police source said
