Family Of Seven Roasts In Kano Fire, See The Cause
Seven family members have died following a fire outbreak at Tudun Wada Bompai in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

An official of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullah, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, January 15, 2024, said a father, mother, and their five children died in the incident which occurred on Sunday night, January 14.
Abdullahi noted on Monday in Kano that the incident, which occurred on Sunday night, affected a father, mother, and five of their children.
“We received a distress call at the Dakata Fire Station from one Ibrahim Sani at about 12:25 am that there was a fire outbreak in a building at Tudun Wada Quarters.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our fire fighting vehicle to the scene at about 12:30 am,” he said.
He said seven unconscious victims were evacuated by firefighters from the slightly burned two rooms and a parlour they were occupying and rushed to the hospital.
“The doctor confirmed seven of them dead due to the smoke they inhaled,” he said, adding that investigation revealed that the fire, caused by an electric spark, was out of control by the time firefighters arrived.
He advised the general public to exercise caution while handling electrical appliances and inflammable materials to avoid fire incidents and other emergencies.
He disclosed this in a telephone interview with PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
He added that the cause of the fire is still being investigated and that items valued at over N300m were recovered.
Sholadoye stated, “The estimated amount of goods lost to the fire is N80m based on our assumption. What was reported by the men that went there, even though the investigation is still ongoing as to the cause of the fire. The amount of goods that were saved was N300m.”
PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the Kano State Fire Service confirmed the death of one person and a burnt truck following a fire incident at an illegal refinery and engine oil depot at the Katanga area of Wailari, located along Ring Road Bypass, opposite Maryam Shekarau Estate in Gezawa LGAof Kano State.
The Public Relations Officer of the state Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, who confirmed the incident, said the fire, which started around 9.50am on Monday, also destroyed four residential houses in the area.
It took personnel of the Kano State Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency, and fire workers from Salbas Petrol Station more than three hours before they could bring the fire under control.
It was gathered that the place, which is located amid residential houses, is used to keep scraps of trucks and trailers in addition to storing fuel and refining used engine oil for other purposes.
