In a tragic incident, unidentified gunmen took the life of High Chief Bashorun Abiofin, a revered traditional chief in Sagamu, situated in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State. The assailants, numbering three, fatally shot the chief on Tuesday, prompting an immediate investigation by the Ogun State Police Command.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incident during a visit to the crime scene, expressing the suspicion of murder. He stated, ” I have just returned from Sagamu; it is true, we are suspecting murder, and we are on top of it. We are trying to unravel the mystery behind the death. I just returned from the scene in Sagamu now. ”
In a separate disturbing event, a group of hoodlums targeted the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) in Ado Ekiti. The perpetrators forcibly entered the Accident and Emergency Complex, seizing the corpse of a deceased individual. The Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, Prof. Kayode Olabanji, condemned this act of violence and assured that the police were actively involved in addressing the matter.
Expressing his concern, Olabanji emphasized the hospital’ s commitment to maintaining a safe environment for its staff. In response to the incident, he stated, ” Management will not tolerate any act of violence or mayhem being unleashed on members of staff of the hospital. ” The CMD disclosed that four armed policemen were stationed at the Accident and Emergency area, with an additional two at the main gate to enhance the hospital’ s security.
