Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday Onyeme, shared the state government’s commitment to investing in the agricultural sector. He stated that agriculture not only serves as a significant source of employment but is also a key component of the state’s vision to become the country’s primary food producer.
During a courtesy visit by members of the Coalition of Delta State Farmers and the state chapter of the Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria, Onyeme emphasized the importance of agriculture as an industry with the potential to lift Nigeria out of poverty.
He pointed out that Nigeria’s comparative advantage lies in developing its agricultural sector rather than attempting to compete with technologically advanced nations. With abundant fertile land and natural resources, Nigeria has the potential to excel in agriculture and should focus its efforts in that direction.
Onyeme stressed the significance of concentrating on agriculture, considering the limitations in competing with advanced nations in technology. He expressed the government’s commitment to advancing agriculture in Delta State and making the state a reference point for agricultural development in the nation.
