The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a fresh warning to Nigerian politicians, urging them to suspend early campaign activities for the 2026 and 2027 election cycle; According to the cleric, the nation may witness unexpected political events that could bring the next major electoral showdown earlier than anticipated.

Primate Ayodele, cautioned political actors to “stop confusing themselves with premature campaigns” when the country is still grappling with insecurity, economic crises, institutional decay, and social instability; He emphasized that Nigeria’s political climate is too volatile for anyone to be fixated on distant future elections.

According to Ayodele, the assumption that Nigeria’s next decisive political moment is fixed for 2027 is misleading; He insisted that a major political shift is on the horizon, one that could change the country’s governance timeline.

“Stop planning for 2026 or 2027; Don’t deceive yourselves; What you are expecting in 2027 may not be the real political turning point; Something will happen earlier that will shake Nigeria politically. So stop campaigning blindly,” he said.

Primate Ayodele warned that political parties are wasting resources and time by focusing solely on 2027 without addressing the nation’s foundational problems; He noted that Nigeria’s political stability is fragile and could be disrupted if urgent reforms are not pursued.

The cleric stressed that Nigeria is currently facing severe security challenges that require collective national attention; According to him, politicians should prioritize solutions to terrorism, banditry, and economic hardship rather than engaging in early power tussles.

He further noted that many leaders are using early campaigns as a tool to distract citizens from critical governance failures.

“This is not the time for billboards and rallies. Nigeria is sitting on a gunpowder; If leaders don’t work urgently to stabilize the economy and restore security, election plans will be disrupted,” he warned.

Primate Ayodele added that the political class must exercise restraint, wisdom, and national consciousness in this period; He stated that only disciplined leadership, sincere governance, and swift action on insecurity can prevent the unforeseen political shake-ups he foresees.

He advised political parties and presidential hopefuls to return to the drawing board and focus on restructuring their internal systems rather than engaging in early campaign wars.
