Tinubu Approves Immediate Civil Service Jobs, Cash & Scholarships for 200 NYSC Honourees
President Bola Tinubu has approved the automatic employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service.
The president also awarded each honouree ₦250,000 and a scholarship for postgraduate studies at any Nigerian university.
Represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Tinubu made the announcement on Tuesday during the combined NYSC President’s Honours Award ceremony (2020–2023) in Abuja.
He said the beneficiaries were selected for showing “discipline, commitment, patriotism, and integrity” during their service year.
“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission will begin their employment process immediately,” Tinubu said.
In addition, 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who sustained injuries while serving will also be employed by the government.
The president said his administration is focused on youth empowerment through education, tech, and jobs, adding that “the future of this nation lies in the hands of its young people.”
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised Tinubu’s youth-friendly policies, citing the recent increase in corps members’ allowance from ₦33,000 to ₦77,000.
NYSC Director-General, Olakunle Nafiu, described the honourees as “heroes of the republic,” noting that they were chosen after a rigorous screening process.
