The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced the relocation of its Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting, originally scheduled to hold on Monday morning at the party’s National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Monday by the party’s management and shared on its verified Facebook page, the PDP confirmed that the BoT meeting will now take place at the Yar’Adua Centre in the Central Business District of Abuja. The change was made public around midday, several hours after the initial 10:00 a.m. meeting time.
The announcement, titled “Special Announcement! Change of Venue for the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting,” read:
“The Meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), earlier scheduled to hold by 10:00 a.m. at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, has been moved to the YarAdua Center, Central Business District, Abuja.”
BoT members, some of whom were reportedly en route to the original location, were urged to proceed directly to the new venue.
The statement, signed simply as “Management,” did not provide a reason for the change. However, the development follows a tense morning at the PDP National Secretariat, where security operatives sealed off the premises and reportedly denied entry to party officials and BoT members.
According to multiple media outlets, the presence of security agents was linked to an “order from above,” though no official explanation has been provided by the authorities at the time of filing this report.
The last-minute disruption adds to the mounting tensions within the party, which has in recent weeks been grappling with internal disputes and parallel meetings over its leadership structure.
