According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, Ibrahim Chatta, a popular Nollywood actor known for his versatile roles in feature films, has revealed the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the death of his first child. Facing severe financial hardship at the time, he was unable to afford a proper coffin and resorted to using a wooden Coca-Cola crate for the burial. This admission came during a candid recollection on a Lagos film set, where he reflected on a chapter of his life he had kept hidden for years.
Chatta recounted that his daughter fell gravely ill and was admitted to a hospital in the Iddo area of Lagos. Despite his best efforts, he was unable to raise sufficient funds for her treatment and she passed away in the facility. With no budget for a coffin, he faced the agonizing decision to lay her to rest in the makeshift wooden container, a memory he described as the most painful moment of his personal and professional journey.
The actor explained that he has seldom spoken about the loss until now. The ordeal remained a private source of grief, and he chose to share the full account with his family only after returning from a recent trip to Dubai. For years those closest to him had been unaware of the depth of his struggle, and this disclosure marked the first time many family members learned of the tragedy that had haunted him in silence.
