Polytechnic EXPELS 6, Withdraws 273 Students Over EXAM Malpractice

The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has directed the withdrawal of 273 students and expelled six others over involvement in examination malpractices.
This decision was reached during the board’s 120th meeting held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, where it reviewed and approved the first semester results for the 2024/2025 academic session.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the institution’s Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Uredo Omale, the board’s chairman, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, commended the Result Verification Committee, led by Deputy Rector Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, for its thorough work and urged them to maintain the standard.
Prof. Usman, however, expressed disappointment with the performance of some students that resulted in their withdrawal, despite the institution’s efforts to provide a conducive learning environment.

The affected students were drawn from 20 departments and 42 programmes, including Business Administration, Accountancy, Fine Art, Building Technology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Animal Health and Production, Library Science, Mass Communication, and Office Technology and Management.
Six students were expelled following recommendations by the Central Examination Misconduct Committee, chaired by Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Ehimony, which found them guilty of various examination offences.

Daniel Onuche Gabriel (2024/HND/BUS/026) of the Department of Business Administration and Yaro Abdullahi Nma (2024/ND/ACCT/081) of the Accountancy Department were expelled for impersonation, in violation of Section 4:35 (19) of the 2021 Revised Students’ Information Handbook.
