TEARS As Grieving Father Reveals How Security Guards Killed Final Year Student In Cold Blood; Details Below
A student in his final year at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University in Igbariam, Anambra State, 27- year- old Noel Okechukwu, was allegedly murdered by security operatives. The incident took place at Senator Stella Oduah’ s Estate, Akili- Ozizor Community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The deceased was said to have been killed by the local vigilante operatives attached to the estate on the 17th of August. The operatives claimed that Noel was shot because he was part of those who had been ” looting & vandalising” property in the estate.
But the grieving father of the boy, Rex Okechukwu, on the 29th of August, disclosed that the local vigilante operatives shot his son dead in the estate as he was going to purchase fresh fish.
He sent a petition to the Divisional Police Officer at Ogbaru Police Division, Atani, in which he said that, according to eyewitnesses, his son got shot after an quarrel ensued between the guards and his son.
” The incident happened on Saturday, the 17th of August. That day, my son, Noel Okechukwu, a 27- year old final year student of Ojukwu University, had went to Senator Stella Oduah’ s Estate at Akili- Ozizor, a neighbouring community, to buy fresh fish at a fish pond inside the estate, ” the petition read.
” When he arrived at the gate leading to the entrance of the estate, the private security guards guarding the Emestate refused to let him enter, and an quarrel ensued between him and the guards, leading to one of the them pulling the trigger of his pump action rifle and firing bullets into his body which made him to collapse. ”
” Soon after they shot him, the guards started giving him water to drink. When he drank some water, he gave up the ghost and the guards sent a bike rider, who rushed to inform the bereaved family of the unfortunate incident.
” As members of his family, we are demanding justice against the private security guards because they had no right to take the life of our son in such a cruel manner. ”
The Divisional Police Officer, at Atani, Mr. I. Andrew, confirmed that they had received the petition. ” Yes, we got received a petition about the alleged shooting and killing. But the report I had before me, concerning the incident, is that the victim was part of those who had been looting and vandalising property inside the estate, ” the DPO said.
” Aside that the community is a known area infested with gunmen, they said that the deceased was caught with his gang members, armed with pump action guns, looting and vandalizing the estate, and when they were confronted, they shot at the security guards, who returned fire for the fire, which led to (the victim) being gunned down. ”
The DPO further said he had finalized arrangements to move the case file to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
