ENTERTAINMENT: Teni Reveals Battle with Life-Threatening Infection and Recovery
Popular Nigerian musician, Teniola Apata, professionally known as Teni, recently shared her harrowing experience with a life-threatening throat infection that she faced in July. The singer opened up about her ordeal in a video posted on social media, where she discussed her temporary voice loss and the severity of her condition.
According to Teni, while recording her second album, ‘Tears of the Sun,’ she received the shocking diagnosis of a life-threatening throat infection. This diagnosis led to various episodes of temporary voice loss, leaving her voice in jeopardy. Teni’s doctors strongly recommended surgery to prevent permanent voice loss, which could potentially jeopardize her singing career.
In September 2023, Teni found herself hospitalized after experiencing repeated bouts of exhaustion, a sign of the toll the infection was taking on her. During her hospitalization, she received numerous injectables to combat the infection.
In a remarkable turn of events, Teni’s determination and medical assistance without surgery allowed her to make a mild recovery of her singing voice in October 2023. By November 2023, she triumphantly returned to the stage, marking her full recovery.
The singer expressed her gratitude for her healing in her new single, “Malaika,” which she described as a song of praise and thanksgiving to God for His mercy and grace. Teni’s resilience and triumphant return after her challenging battle with a life-threatening infection have been met with applause and support from her fans and the music industry.
