Governor Approves Promotion of 8,476 Primary, JSS Teachers
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the promotion of 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the state, marking a significant step toward improving the education sector.
The announcement was made by the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Onomen Goodness Briggs, who emphasized that the move recognizes teachers’ dedication and aims to enhance the overall quality of education.
Briggs stated that the promotions, covering the period between 2022 and January 2024, are expected to rejuvenate the morale of educators, who had previously faced stagnation in career advancement.
> “Governor Okpebholo’s proactive leadership has injected fresh energy into the basic education sector. Our efforts are focused on comprehensive reforms that prioritize teachers and, ultimately, improve student outcomes,” she said.
She added that the initiative aligns with the governor’s first 100-day agenda, ensuring that past administrative bottlenecks no longer hinder progress.
Briggs further noted that improved teacher satisfaction is expected to translate into better classroom performance and a more dynamic learning environment for students.
