The shocking narrative of the sacrilegious actions of a man named Emeka Ezeugo, also known as ‘ Reverend King, ‘ from the Christ Praying Assembly (CPA) in Ajao estate, Lagos, seemed more like fiction than reality. However, as individuals who had experienced the ungodly deeds of this self- proclaimed ‘ Jesus of our time’ stepped forward to testify, the gravity of the situation became undeniable. His subsequent trial and conviction by a Lagos high court underscored the disconcerting reality that many contemporary Pentecostal churches are straying far from the teachings of the Holy Bible.
Interestingly, while the dust from the ‘ Reverend King’ saga is still settling, reports suggest that another bizarre situation is unfolding in a different Lagos church. The Christian Bible Ministry (CBM), situated in an inconspicuous area behind Apakun Saw Mill along Murtala Mohammed Airport Road, Mafoluku, Oshodi, is operating without the typical banners or signboards characteristic of most churches. The church, which originated over two decades ago in a village in Imo State, was founded by Reverend Barnabas. However, he was purportedly ousted by other pastors for his alleged strict stance, and the church has since become entangled in absurdities.
