The police in Imo State have apprehended and paraded three young men in Ogii, Okigwe Local Government Area, after they were found in possession of a human skull.
The police have not yet determined the identity of the individual to whom the recovered human skull belongs.

However, the police arrested Patrick Okoere, 29, Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka, 28, and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi, 20, after receiving information from concerned residents of the Ogii community.
DSP Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police spokesperson, announced on Wednesday that three suspects were arrested on Monday in the Ogii community, Okigwe Local Government Area, for allegedly possessing a human skull.
According to the police, one of the suspects, Patrick Okoerem claimed that his uncle instructed him to obtain a human skull, allegedly for use in a disputed land case.
Explaining further, the statement read, ” as part of the Imo State Police Command’ s continued efforts to curb criminal activities in the state, operatives of the Okigwe Divisional Headquarters, in collaboration with residents of Ogii community, on 3/02/2025, arrested three suspects found in possession of a human skull, a native hen and white garments along the Okigwe- Umuahia Expressway” .
” The three individuals arrested; Patrick Okoere (29), Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka (28), and Chukwuemeka Onyekachi (20)— are currently under investigation. During questioning, Patrick stated that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had asked him to acquire a human skull. He claimed to have found it along a riverbank on the Okigwe- Umuahia Expressway, an area where the command has received cases of kidnappings” .
“The Imo State Police Command is actively pursuing Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices in connection with this disturbing incident. In addition, a DNA analysis is underway to determine the identity of the skull’ s owner”, he noted.
In the meantime, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has reaffirmed the Imo State Police Command’ s commitment to protecting residents and ensuring justice is served. Recently, he led a strategic assessment tour of police divisions in Obowo, Ehime/Isiala Mbano, and Aboh Mbaise, aiming to enhance security and restore police effectiveness in Imo State.

DSP Henry Okoye assured that the police will provide updates on the case as the investigation progresses.
