Anambra, Taraba Get New Commissioners of Police

Chukwudi Chris Ariekpere, a seasoned officer from Abia State, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police for Taraba State. He succeeds CP Peter Oparah, who has been redeployed to another assignment. Ariekpere brings extensive experience in crisis management and community engagement, which is expected to elevate the professionalism of the Taraba State Command.
Similarly, Livingstein Ikioye Orutugu, a highly decorated officer from Bayelsa State, has been appointed the new Commissioner of Police for Anambra State. He takes over from Obong Nnache Itam, who has completed his tenure. Orutugu’s expertise in intelligence gathering and crime prevention is expected to bolster Anambra State’s security framework.
DIG Hashimu Argungu, Chairman of the Police Service Commission, urged the new Commissioners to swiftly adapt to their new roles and ensure there are no gaps that could lead to a breakdown in law and order.
