In a shocking turn of events, Taiwo Yemitan, along with his twin brother Kehinde, was recently apprehended for the heinous crime of luring and murdering a young girl for ritualistic purposes in Abeokuta, Ogun State. An exclusive audio confession obtained by investigative journalist Kunle Akinrinade sheds light on their chilling methods as serial killers and the tragic fate of their last victim, Darasimi.
Twins Turned Killers
Taiwo and Kehinde, both 47 years old, have become notorious figures rather than the cherished symbols of good fortune that twins are often seen as in the Yoruba culture. Instead of making their family proud, they have brought shame upon their lineage by allegedly leading a kidnapping syndicate that specializes in dismembering victims for sale and creating so- called magic powders for rituals.
The brothers, who supplemented their income as carpenters, had increasingly engaged in dark practices involving human sacrifices. Their last victim, Darasimi, a sex worker, was lured to their hideout in the Premier area of Abeokuta, where they brutally killed and dismembered her.
The Arrest
Taiwo’ s downfall came on December 22, 2024, when he was arrested alongside an accomplice named Kazeem. Investigators indicated that Kehinde managed to escape but was eventually located due to police surveillance. The Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with local security agencies, captured Kehinde on December 30, 2024.
According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police, the brothers had successfully manipulated their victim into trusting them before committing the horrific act. Their arrest was facilitated by a tip- off about Kehinde’ s whereabouts, leading to a coordinated police operation.
The Chilling Confession
In the audio recording, Taiwo detailed their gruesome activities, admitting to a pattern of killing individuals for ritualistic purposes. He confessed that after murdering their victims, they would dismember the bodies and sell the parts for prices ranging from N20, 000 to N100, 000, depending on the body part. He explained that these parts were used by clients for money- making rituals, while others were ground into powder to be mixed with soaps to purportedly attract fortune.
Taiwo provided insight into the brothers’ dark operations, revealing their collaboration with Kazeem, who supplied fresh human parts and had been involved in their crimes multiple times. Remarkably, Taiwo recounted how their last victim, Darasimi, was picked up from the Lafenwa area, leading to a series of horrific events that culminated in her death.
The Execution Of Their Crimes
According to Taiwo’ s confession, the brothers had a systematic approach to their killings. Kehinde was responsible for luring Darasimi to their hideout, where she was offered a meal before the brutal act. Taiwo described how Kazeem participated by overpowering the victim while he and Kehinde held her down, culminating in her murder. The heart and other body parts were then preserved for sale.
Taiwo stated, ” We took her heart, kidney, head, and leg, ” while revealing the shocking prices they had set for various body parts. Their scheme was a nightmare that unfolded in secrecy, hidden behind the facade of their lives as carpenters and herbalists.
The Bait And The Capture
It was during an attempted sale of Darasimi’ s head to an undercover buyer that their operation finally unraveled. The purported buyer, Fakorede, was actually working with local security to expose the brothers. Taiwo was apprehended while trying to deliver the severed head, leading to the duo’ s arrest.
In the aftermath of their capture, Taiwo expressed regret, stating that he was unaware of the ultimate consequences of their actions. He lamented the shame brought upon his family and sought forgiveness for his crimes.
The disturbing case of Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan serves as a grim reminder of the depths of human depravity. It highlights the critical need for societal vigilance against such heinous crimes.
