OHH NO! TERRIBLE Bloodshed In Plateau As Over 14 Innocent Souls Were Murdered In Cold Blood Barely 48 Hours To Christmas
At least 14 people were killed, and one person was seriously injured in a nighttime attack on Gidan Ado, a community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. The tragedy has cast a shadow over the festive season, as residents mourn the loss of loved ones.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Irigwe Community Development Association (IDA), Sam Jugo, confirmed the incident to journalists. He revealed that the attack was immediately reported to Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the multi- security task force responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau State. Troops from the operation were deployed to respond to the situation.
However, as of press time, the spokespersons for Operation Safe Haven and the Plateau State Police Command, Major Samson Zhakom and DSP Alabo Alfred, respectively, had not issued any official statements on the attack.
Victims And Community Devastation
Jugo disclosed that the victims were natives of the Irigwe community, who primarily reside in Bassa Local Government Area. Among the deceased were individuals spanning various age groups, including young children and elderly citizens. He provided the names of the victims, which included:

One survivor, Linda Moses (32), sustained severe injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.
” Our hearts bleed for the loss of our kinsmen, with whom we had hoped to celebrate the yuletide season, ” Jugo lamented.
Security Measures And Festive Season Concerns
The attack comes just days after the Plateau State Police Command announced the deployment of security personnel to five local government areas, including Riyom, to ensure safety during Christmas and New Year celebrations. Despite these measures, the latest violence underscores lingering security challenges in the region.
While appealing for calm, Jugo urged security agencies to intensify their efforts to prevent further attacks and retaliatory actions. ” We trust that the authorities will thoroughly investigate this incident and take decisive action to forestall a recurrence, ” he added.
The identities of the attackers remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing. Residents have called on the government to provide stronger security measures to protect vulnerable communities in the area.
