Nigerian actor Adeniyi Johnson has extended his condolences and prayers to the families of the victims of the tragic Ibadan stampede. The devastating incident occurred during a Christmas event at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, resulting in the loss of 35 lives and leaving six others critically injured.
Adeniyi Johnson’ s emotional message also offered support and encouragement to Olori Naomi Silekunola, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, who has been remanded in connection with the tragedy. The actor emphasized that Silekunola’ s intentions were not malicious, but rather charitable, as she had organized the event to give back to the community.
The actor’ s post read: ” First and foremost, condolences to the family of lost ones, no family deserves this kind of pain at this time or any other. I pray the good Lord gives you the fortitude to bear the loss and comfort the family! ! Amen. ”
Adeniyi Johnson continued: ” My heart and prayers go to @queen_silekunolanaomi_ogunwusi whose intentions were not to hurt or kill but to give and feed! This time too shall pass, and the God of your good deeds will speak for you, restore you, and bring you back stronger! ”
The actor also urged the authorities to consider Silekunola’ s charitable intentions and to ” temper justice with mercies. ” He concluded: ” We beseech the authorities in charge to temper justice with mercies and look beyond the tragic incident. ”
A Chief Magistrate’ s Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has ordered the remand of Olori Naomi Silekunola, Agidigbo FM CEO Oriyomi Hamzat, and Islamic High School principal Abdullahi Fasasi at the Agodi Correctional Centre. The case has been adjourned until January 13 for mention.
As the investigation into the Ibadan stampede continues, Adeniyi Johnson’ s message of support and prayers serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy and compassion in the face of tragedy.
