From HOOKUP To GRAVE! Man Lures Lady To Home, Cuts Off Her Head, See His End
The Ogun State Police Command has taken a suspect, Taiwo Yemitan, into custody for his alleged involvement in a gruesome ritual killing. This followed the discovery of a fresh human head and dismembered body parts at his residence in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta. The horrifying incident has sent shockwaves through the community and raised alarm about the rising menace of ritual killings.
SP Omolola Odutola, the command’ s spokesperson, revealed that Yemitan was apprehended in the early hours of Sunday at his residence located near Atinsola Petrol Station. His arrest came after a tip- off from vigilant local security groups, including the Agbekoya and other community vigilante operatives.
According to Odutola, Yemitan confessed to the crime during initial interrogations. He admitted to luring a young woman identified as Darasimi to his home with the intent to kill her. The suspect further disclosed that he had planned the murder with the help of two accomplices who are still at large. Their heinous intention, Yemitan revealed, was to sell the victim’ s head and other body parts for ritual purposes.
” The suspect admitted to knowing the victim and confessed to killing her, ” said Odutola. ” He implicated two others as co- conspirators, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend them. ”
Currently, efforts are being made to identify the victim’ s family, while her remains have been deposited at the General Hospital morgue in Ijaye, Abeokuta, for further examination. The police also confirmed that Yemitan would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Eleweran, Abeokuta, for an in- depth investigation into the chilling crime.
The spokesperson recalled a similar disturbing case earlier in the year, where another suspect, A. Adebayo, confessed to killing three women he had lured through ” hookup” arrangements. These incidents, Odutola noted, highlight a disturbing trend that underscores the need for young women to exercise caution and reconsider engaging in such risky activities.
Odutola issued a strong warning to young women, urging them to avoid ” hookup” culture and focus on safer, more contented lifestyles. She also emphasized the critical role of parental guidance in preventing such tragedies. ” Parents must look after their daughters and ensure they are well- trained to avoid falling prey to predators, ” she said.
This incident has reignited public outcry over the dangers of ritual killings and the societal factors contributing to such crimes. Authorities are under pressure to act decisively and bring all culprits to justice.
The community continues to mourn the loss of Darasimi, while the police intensify their investigation to ensure that all those involved in this gruesome crime are brought to justice.
