Speaking on Wednesday during the presentation of the 2025 budget estimate of ₦47. 9 trillion before a joint session of the National Assembly, the president highlighted the need for immediate action to address these pressing challenges. He acknowledged the adverse impact of poor decisions made by past leaders but emphasized that the time for lamentation was over.

The president also outlined the objectives of the 2025 budget proposal, describing it as a plan that lays the foundation for peace, prosperity, and hope. He reiterated his administration’ s commitment to ensuring every Nigerian can live and thrive in safety. As part of his efforts to prioritize education, Tinubu revealed that his administration has disbursed ₦34 billion to over 300, 000 students through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). Furthermore, ₦826. 90 billion has been allocated for infrastructure development in the educational sector. This allocation includes funds for the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and nine newly established higher educational institutions.
In addition to education, the president highlighted significant investments in healthcare. The 2025 budget allocates ₦402 billion for infrastructure development in the health sector and ₦282. 65 billion for the Basic Health Care Fund. Tinubu emphasized that these provisions aim to revitalize hospitals, improve medication availability, and strengthen primary healthcare systems across the country. ” Our hospitals will be revitalized with medication and better resources, ensuring quality care for all Nigerians, ” he affirmed, adding that these efforts align with the government’ s plan to procure essential drugs for public healthcare facilities nationwide, reducing dependency on medical imports.
