FREE Christmas RIDE! JUBILATION As President Tinubu Approves Train Services To Nigerians, See Commencement Date
The Federal Government has announced that Nigerians will enjoy free train rides across the country during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. The initiative is aimed at easing travel burdens, ensuring affordable and convenient transportation for citizens during the festive season.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known on Monday while addressing journalists after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting. Idris revealed that the free train services will commence on December 20, 2024, and run until January 5, 2025, spanning a total of 17 days.
According to the minister, the free rides will cover all routes currently serviced by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC). This includes major travel corridors connecting key cities, providing Nigerians with access to safe and efficient rail transport throughout the holiday period.
” The free train rides are part of the government’ s effort to support Nigerians during the festive season, ensuring seamless and affordable travel for those wishing to reunite with their families and loved ones, ” Idris said.
He emphasized that the decision underscores the government’ s commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens while fostering the use of rail transport as a reliable means of travel. The initiative also aligns with the administration’ s focus on enhancing public infrastructure and promoting mass transportation systems across the country.
The move has been met with positive reactions, as many Nigerians view it as a timely intervention amidst the economic challenges faced by the populace. With road transportation often congested and expensive during the holidays, the free train services are expected to provide significant relief for travelers.
Further details, including train schedules, routes, and additional logistics, are anticipated to be released by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) in the coming days to ensure smooth implementation.
This initiative marks a step towards enhancing rail transportation in Nigeria while offering citizens an affordable and convenient way to celebrate the season.
