WOW! 4 Surviving Kidnapped Ariyo Family Members & 3 Others Regain Freedom
The four surviving Ariyo family members as well as the three other locals kidnapped from Sagwari Estate in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s Bwari Area Council are now free.
According to LIB, on January 7, 2024, at around 8 p.m., gunmen broke into the estate across from Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dutse and kidnapped Mrs. Ariyo, her four children, five other people, including Talatu Salihu, a 500-level student at Bayero University Kano (BUK), her two nieces, and two hotel staff members.
The victims’ families were asked to pay a ransom of N60 million and N50 million, respectively, by the kidnappers.
The abductors killed 13-year-old Michelle Ariyo, Talatu, and Akpagher Joseph Terzungwe, a member of the hotel staff, after they were unable to provide the enormous ransom.
The abductors killed them, increased the price for the captives that were left, and gave them till Wednesday.
Sources who spoke to the Daily Trust on Sunday afternoon, January 21, disclosed that the “seven remaining victims, a female hotel receptionist, a mother and her three children, as well as two little children, had been released to their respected family members.”
But he did reveal that both families had been brought to an unidentified location.
This development follows the release of the four surviving siblings of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who was killed while being held captive.
