In a commendable move by the Nigerian Police Force, a significant breakthrough has been achieved in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the recent launch of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by Inspector- General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. The specialized unit, through a meticulously executed operation culminating on Saturday, successfully apprehended 16 notorious criminals, marking a substantial stride in the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region.
Among the apprehended suspects were three individuals from Bwari Local Government Area, identified as Idris Ishaku, Bala Umar, and Dahiru Salisu, all aged 27. These individuals have been implicated in numerous armed robberies and kidnappings in Bwari and other areas of Abuja. The successful operation led to the recovery of various arms and ammunition, reinforcing the commitment of the police force to maintain law and order.
Force Spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, revealed in a statement that in addition to the aforementioned kidnappers, a combined team of operatives also arrested 13 other suspects linked to various criminal activities. Adejobi emphasized the significance of foiling a kidnapping plot through technical intelligence, resulting in the arrest of the Bwari- based kidnappers and the recovery of weapons from them.
