Seven Hostages Escape: Relief As Kidnapped Victims Regain Freedom In Bwari Area Council
No fewer than seven kidnapped victims from Kawu in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been reportedly released by their abductors. The residents of the community were attacked in the early hours of Thursday by gunmen, who stormed the palace of the district head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali, and abducted his son and several others.
According to SaharaReporters, the gunmen arrived at Kawu village in large numbers and carried out the kidnapping. The exact number of people abducted is yet to be ascertained. However, a police source confirmed the incident, stating that the gunmen attacked the village and kidnapped several individuals.
In a glimmer of hope amidst the distress, seven of the kidnapped victims have been released. The Daily Trust reported that one of the released victims is Alhaji Alhassan Sidi (Marafa of Kawo), whose four children still remain in captivity. Alhaji Gambo S. Fawa (Sarkin Fawa) was also freed, along with his two wives and another young man.
However, their release came at a heavy price. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of over N20 million and two special motorcycles to secure the freedom of the remaining victims. The families of the abducted individuals are now faced with the daunting task of raising the requested amount.
