Police Arrest VIGILANTE Operative With Gun Concealed Inside Bag Of Rice, Makes SHOCKING Confession
The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a vigilante operative who was attempting to flee with a firearm. This significant development underscores ongoing concerns about the conduct of security personnel in the region.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the incident took place on November 22, 2024, in the Nkwelle- Ezunaka area of Oyi Local Government. The police recovered a pump- action gun concealed in a bag of rice from the suspect, identified as Enediong Bassey, a 25- year- old native of Ikono Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.
CSP Emeka Obi and his team of police operatives from the 3- 3 Police Divisional headquarters acted on credible intelligence that led to the arrest. Ikenga detailed the sequence of events, stating, ” At approximately 6: 38 PM, we apprehended the suspect while he was attempting to escape. Upon questioning, he admitted to being affiliated with a local security outfit and indicated he was planning to join a criminal gang for armed robbery and other illicit activities. ”
This incident raises serious concerns about the integrity and professionalism of some local security outfits. In light of this arrest and similar complaints, the Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam, has called for a reassessment of security personnel involved in community policing.
