GOD WHY! ! Few Days After New Year, Eleven Lives Perish At A Spot, See What Killed Them
In the early hours of Tuesday, a tragic accident on the Jebba- Ilorin Expressway claimed the lives of no fewer than 11 individuals, with seven others sustaining serious injuries. The fatal collision involved a DAF truck and an 18- passenger Toyota Hiace bus, unraveling at Aiyere village along the Bode- Saadu- Ilorin route around 4: 50 am.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) attributed the crash to wrongful overtaking and speed violation by one of the vehicles, painting a grim picture of the consequences when road safety guidelines are disregarded.
The FRSC’ s Kwara Sector Command, as reported by the Public Relations Officer Basambo Olayinka, promptly responded to the incident following an early morning report. Operatives from the Help and Rescue Camp, established at Bode Saadu to fortify end- of- year special patrol operations, collaborated with the Nigeria Police Force in conducting a rescue operation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the Toyota Hiace bus, en route from Gombe to Lagos, engaged in wrongful overtaking, resulting in a tragic head- on collision with an oncoming DAF truck. Out of the 18 individuals (male adults) involved, 11 lost their lives tragically, while seven others with varying degrees of injury were rescued and transported to Ifeoluwa Hospital in Bode Saadu for immediate medical attention.
