A shocking incident that has left the community of Waterloo, north of Durban, reeling with disbelief occurred over the weekend. A young man is currently on the run after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend and mother during a heated argument.
Despite the best efforts of the authorities, the suspect, who is believed to be in his twenties, remains at large, the chaotic scene happened on Mgabadeli Road in Phase 6, Waterloo, and was described as a violent altercation that ensued during a dispute over infidelity.
The suspect was reported to have wielded a kitchen knife, which he used to stab his girlfriend before forcibly taking her to his mother’ s home.
There, the situation allegedly escalated further, leading to the suspect stabbing his mother when she attempted to intervene, regrettably, it is said that the suspect’ s violence did not end there. It was reported that he also assaulted his 76- year- old grandmother and a wheelchair- bound uncle as they tried to intervene to help the distraught mother and girlfriend.
Following the frenzied attacks, the suspect proceeded to smash all the windows in the home before fleeing the scene on foot. The victims, his mother and girlfriend, were promptly taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries, despite suffering from stab wounds, it was confirmed that both women are in stable condition.
