A 25- year- old woman named Favour Ada was subjected to humiliation, physical violence, and public shaming after being falsely accused of stealing an iPhone. The attackers, including a native doctor and three other men, went to great lengths to torment her and record the heinous crime, which was subsequently published online.
The incident took place in Ugbiyoko, on the outskirts of Edo state capital, where Miss Ada was stripped naked and abused following claims of stealing an iPhone worth N400, 000. The heartbreaking scenario was captured on tape as the girl cried for mercy while experiencing the pain inflicted by her assailants, who insisted that she confess and divulge the whereabouts of the phone.
The Edo State Police Command acted quickly in response to public outrage, resulting in the arrest of three people engaged in the maltreatment of the young lady shown in the viral video. According to an unnamed source at the Edo state police headquarters, the three suspects were already in police custody after being caught in the town’ s Ugbiyoko axis.
Miss Ada, who sustained serious injuries as a result of the trauma, was immediately transported to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital’ s (UBTH) intensive care unit for medical treatment.
Following police investigations, it was discovered that the suspects’ motivation arose from the victim’ s refusal to engage in sexual activity, causing them to falsely accuse her of stealing in order to humiliate her. Following the conclusion of the investigation, all suspects were charged in court.
