A doctor and three nurses working for him have reportedly died at the Almusharaf Hospital situated in Oke Sunah, Saki town, Saki West Local Government Area of Oyo State. The medical workers died within three days (72 hours). The period they died made the incident scary for the people living in the community because they feared that what killed them might spread to the community.
The incident happened between Tuesday and Friday. A nurse was the first to lose her life, the doctor followed her barely 24 hours later and the other two nurses the following day. All the deceased are from the same hospital and it is quite unfortunate that their death could not be prevented despite the fact that they are working at a medical facility.
A resident, Adekunle Lawal, said he could not specifically say the cause of the death while speaking to Vanguard, but he made a point that the doctor is a quack and suspected that the deceased might have contacted a deceased while treating a patient. He noted that the hospital normally carries out minor surgery on patients and sometimes invites doctors from another hospital to join them.
However, it is very hard to believe that the victims died of contagious diseases because if that’ s what killed them, why is it that only the workers that died and no death of any patient was recorded? Some other residents suspected that the deceased might have died of food poisoning, they assumed that maybe one of them ate food and gave others. The residents called on necessary authorities to carry out an autopsy on the deceased to know the cause of their death.
