Ondo Prophetess In Trouble As Mother And Child Reportedly Bleed To Death During Service; See Details
The Ondo State Police Command announced on Tuesday that it had arrested a prophetess, Mrs. Folashade Adekola, in connection with the tragic deaths of a woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn baby at her church in the Oke- Aro area of Akure, the state capital. According to reports, the mother died from excessive bleeding after complications during childbirth inside the church, while the baby reportedly died immediately after birth.
The incident came to light when the deceased’ s brother, alarmed by the situation, reported the matter to the police. The police acted swiftly, leading to the arrest of the prophetess, who was taken into custody for further questioning at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department. Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the state’ s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest and disclosed that investigations were ongoing. ” The case was reported by the deceased’ s brother, who stated that his sister died after childbirth in the church. The prophetess is now in custody, and investigations are continuing, ” she said.
Further details from the family revealed that the church initially contacted the deceased’ s husband, informing him that his wife had delivered a baby. The husband then called a relative, and they both rushed to the church. Upon arriving, they were told that the baby had died during childbirth, but the mother was still alive. However, upon seeing Jumoke, they found her in a pool of blood, bleeding heavily. They immediately took her to a nearby hospital, but, tragically, she was turned away by three different hospitals due to her critical condition.
She eventually died during an attempt to revive her at the last hospital that accepted her. The family was further shocked when they went to the church to retrieve the baby’ s remains, only to find the infant’ s body in a room that appeared unsuitable for childbirth. The condition of the room was described as very disturbing and did not resemble a proper delivery space.
The family subsequently reported the matter to the Oke- Aro Police Station, which led to the arrest of the prophetess. The woman’ s body has been deposited at the mortuary, and the police have vowed to continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The case has shocked many in the local community, raising concerns about the safety of childbirth in unregulated environments such as religious institutions.
