The former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has finally addressed widespread rumors claiming he had passed away. In response to these baseless reports, a fresh video has surfaced on social media platform X, showing Okorocha alive and well. In the video, a guest praised and prayed for Okorocha, who appeared healthy and relaxed, seated on a couch.
Okorocha spoke directly about the rumors, sharing that since the false reports began spreading, he has received numerous calls from friends, family, and concerned citizens, adding that he can’ t even sleep because if numerous calls.
The rumors suggested that Okorocha had died in a London hospital due to a made- up illness called ” acute gorilla. ” However, Okorocha, who recently attended the burial of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a respected Igbo leader and President- General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, firmly denied these claims. In a statement released on November 6, 2024, by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha clarified that he had not traveled abroad recently and was in good health.
” Contrary to these unfounded rumors, Rochas Okorocha is neither sick nor dead, ” the statement affirmed. Okorocha emphasized that he has continued participating in public activities, including services in Abuja honoring prominent Igbo leaders, like Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.
The statement further condemned the sources behind these rumors, labeling them ” dead in spirit” and suggesting that jealousy over Okorocha’ s public image and warm reception at Iwuanyanwu’ s burial might have fueled the rumors. His team noted that Okorocha’ s philanthropic work and longstanding commitment to the Igbo community have consistently earned him public admiration, which may have contributed to the resentment among some individuals.
