Suspect Confessed How He Used Sex- Workers For Ritual
A suspect named Raman Akande has confessed to being involved in the murder of a commercial sex worker in the Ifo area of Ogun State, reportedly for ritualistic purposes. Akande was arrested along with two other suspects and admitted to his role in the crime in a confession video obtained by PUNCH Metro, though the source who shared it wished to remain anonymous.
In his confession, Akande explained that he was promised a reward of N100, 000 by an accomplice identified as Ifa if he helped carry out the murder. Acting on this promise, Akande approached the victim, whom he described as a regular sex worker he had previously hired. He offered her N3, 000 to spend the night at his residence, an amount higher than the usual N1, 000 he paid her, and she agreed to go with him.
According to Akande, once at his home, he enlisted the help of a friend, Ijebu, to carry out the act. He recounted that Ijebu struck the woman on the head with a piece of wood, causing her to collapse. Akande then helped move her inside, holding her legs while Ijebu held her arms, as Ifa proceeded to fatally wound her. Ifa reportedly collected her blood in a calabash, a vessel commonly used in ritualistic ceremonies, further suggesting the intended use of the victim’ s remains.
Akande admitted his involvement was motivated by the promised payment of N100, 000 from Ifa, and he clarified that his relationship with the victim was strictly transactional, with no personal attachment beyond their prior interactions.
Efforts to obtain a response from Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, were unsuccessful as she had not responded to messages and calls by the time of this report. However, a senior officer familiar with the case confirmed the arrest and noted that Akande had since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further processing.
