Armed Robber Dies After Breaking Into Redeem Church In Benue; See Details
A suspected armed robber was found lifeless on the road of Benue State. People using the road saw the body and were running away before the residents contacted the law enforcement agency. It was alleged that he died shortly after he broke into a church. The report going viral stated that he was killed but in the statement released by the police, it was made known that it is yet to be confirmed that the deceased was an armed robber.
Angry youths in Makurdi town, Benue State have reportedly beat a man to death for allegedly robbing a Redeemed Christian Church of God. The incident happened on Wednesday and it generated a lot of commotion in the community of the incident, the man was beaten to death and dumped on the road thereafter.
It was gathered that the man broke into the church building and stole some items. He was about to elope when some youths caught him and accosted him to the area where he was attacked and hacked to death. His corpse was abandoned on the road. People who were on their way to midweek service and market were seen running away from the scene after they discovered the body.
Meanwhile, the Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, adding that nobody has made a formal report of any church theft, and due to that, it is yet to be ascertained whether the deceased man is truly a robber.
A thorough investigation would have to be conducted to unravel the truth behind the incident.
The police have recovered the corpse and deposited it at a mortuary in Makurdi and hopefully, the police will not relent in their investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing of the man. What have you got to say about the incident?
