Reno Omokri, a vocal supporter of President Bola Tinubu, has openly criticized former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. Omokri, in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressed disbelief over Osinbajo’ s recent comments about integrity.
Omokri questioned Osinbajo’ s right to speak on the subject, accusing him of betraying his former ally, President Muhammadu Buhari, during the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary. Osinbajo had contested against Bola Tinubu, who Omokri claims was Osinbajo’ s ” benefactor, ” describing the move as an act of ” backstabbing. ”
Omokri further criticized the former Vice President for his role in the Buhari administration, accusing the government of financial mismanagement. He cited recent revelations that under the Buhari- Osinbajo administration, the government illegally borrowed ₦50 trillion through ” ways and means” and depleted Nigeria’ s foreign reserves.
Omokri claimed that this left the country in deeper debt than any previous administration. He also referenced a comment by Osinbajo’ s spokesperson, Laolu Akande, who reportedly described the Obasanjo government as Nigeria’ s best, highlighting internal dissatisfaction within the Buhari- Osinbajo government.
In contrast, during a speech at the matriculation ceremony of MIVA Open University in Abuja, Osinbajo emphasized the value of integrity. He expressed concern that individuals with integrity are becoming rare in Nigeria, despite the high demand for such people.
Osinbajo pointed out that even corrupt individuals seek out trustworthy people to manage their illicit wealth, underlining the importance of integrity in both personal and professional relationships. Osinbajo advised the students to always fulfill their promises and honor their obligations, including repaying borrowed money.
