United States lawmaker, Senator Ted Cruz, has described the kidnapping of students from St Mary’s Catholic School in Niger state as horrific.
Cruz shared his thoughts on X on Saturday morning.
Earlier in the week, at least 215 children and 12 teachers were abducted from the school.
Quoting a report about the incident, Cruz simply wrote: “utterly horrific”.
President Bola Tinubu has postponed his foreign trips – including this weekend’s G20 summit in South Africa – in order to address these security issues.
The authorities in Niger state also claimed that the school disregarded an order to close all boarding facilities following intelligence warnings of a heightened risk of attacks.
