The police operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Adejumo Adeyemi after he was accused of forcefully having carnal knowledge of a 2- year- old girl inside the church.
Following the arrest, the suspect was charged before the Ikeja S3xual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.
However, a few months after the suspect’ s arrest, the presiding judge, Justice Rahmon Oshodi discharged and acquitted him.
According to Justice Rahmon, the suspect was proven to be guilty of defilement beyond reasonable doubt by the prosecution
He added that the court could not conclude that the suspect raped the minor in the church as accused.
In his words, he said, ” The mother who was a vital witness refused to show up in court to testify against the suspect thereby culminating the circumstantial evidence narrative of the prosecution.
” For the court to be convinced, the prosecution must present compelling, complete, and unequivocal circumstantial evidence.

” While testifying before the court, the Medical Doctor could not state clearly that the blunt penetration happens through the use of pènis and he also failed to identify the suspect as the perpetrator.
” The doctor told the court that none of the suspect’ s sperm was harvested from the victim”
