Farmer’s alleged killing: Police interrogate deaf, dumb suspect in Ekiti
Ekiti State Police Command says it has begun an inquiry into the events surrounding the alleged killing of a farmer by a deaf and dumb person.
The incident happened at Ipole Farm Settlement, Agbado Ekiti, in Ayekire Local Council Development Area on Tuesday evening.
Additional details revealed that the deceased, simply known as Sikiru (aka Badoo), confronted Sunday Alabi, the deaf and dumb, and accused him of routinely robbing his farm of food items.
He sustained serious knife cuts on his head from the suspect’s alleged violent outburst “for having the effrontery to challenge him.”
Further information revealed that other farmers in the area were drawn to Sikiru’s plea for assistance, and they eventually overpowered and rounded up Alabi, turning him over to the police.
DSP Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the incident, stating that the assailant was in their possession.
“We have begun an investigation into the incident and we have the assailant in our custody,” he said.
