JUST- IN : Nigerian Gov’t Sponsors Hamas, Hezbollah To Fight Israel- Simon Ekpa Alleges
Simon Ekpa, a self- proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, has made a serious accusation against the Nigerian government. In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ekpa alleged that the Nigerian government is financially supporting two well- known Middle Eastern terrorist organizations, Hamas and Hezbollah, in their fight against Israel.

Ekpa’ s claim came shortly after the brutal assassination of Yahya Sinwar, a Hezbollah leader, by Israeli forces. He described Nigeria as a ” terrorist state, ” further alleging that the country provides funds to Hamas and Hezbollah. In his post, which was cited by LATEST_NEWS Blog, Ekpa stated, ” The terrorist state of Nigeria is in serious pain! Nigeria financially fund Hamas and Hezbollah to fight Israel. ”
This claim stirred reactions, especially as it followed a controversial post by Bashir Ahmad, a former aide to Nigeria’ s ex- President Muhammadu Buhari. Ahmad had praised Sinwar after news broke that Israeli forces had assassinated him in Gaza. Ahmad shared a picture of the Hamas leader on X, describing him as a man who ” was born, lived, and died a leader. ”
Yahya Sinwar was a high- ranking leader of Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, and had been designated a terrorist by the European Union (EU). He had been on the EU’ s wanted list since January 2024 for orchestrating attacks on Israel that left over 1, 000 people dead during the October 7 conflict. Sinwar assumed leadership of Hamas following the assassination of former leader Ismail Haniyeh in a gun battle between Israeli soldiers and Hamas forces.
In the wake of this, Ekpa’ s allegations have caused an uproar, with many questioning the claims about Nigeria’ s involvement in supporting terrorist organizations. The Nigerian government has not yet responded to these accusations, but the allegations have cast a spotlight on the country’ s potential ties to Middle Eastern conflicts.
Ahmad’ s praise of Sinwar has also fueled discussions about Nigeria’ s stance on terrorism. In 2021, Peoples Gazette exposed Isa Pantami, a former minister under Buhari’ s administration, as having sympathized with terrorist groups like Al- Qaeda in the past. This revelation, along with Ahmad’ s recent comments, has raised concerns about the influence of radical ideologies within certain circles of the Nigerian government.
Meanwhile, Israel has vowed to continue its fight against terrorism, with one of its officials stating, ” We settled the score with mass murderer Sinwar, but there will be no real closure. There will be no total victory if we don’ t save lives and bring them home. “
