TRUTH IS OUT! Obasanjo’s Library Breaks Silence, Reveals Why Lion Killed Zoo Keeper; SEE Who They’re Blaming
The management of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Wildlife Park in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has blamed the tragic death of a zookeeper, Babaji Daule, on his carelessness while performing an unauthorized duty.
The incident occurred on Saturday, September 28, 2024, when Daule, aged 35, was attacked and killed by a lion in the park. In a statement released on Sunday, September 29, 2024, the management shared their account of the tragic event.
According to the statement, Daule had agreed to demonstrate the feeding routine of the lion to some guests who arrived after the park’ s official closing time. Despite the park’ s strict safety protocols, Daule reportedly left the protective gate open while feeding the lion in its inner enclosure.
Feeling comfortable around the animal, he proceeded with the demonstration, which led to the fatal attack. The lion immediately mauled Daule, killing him on the spot. In response, the park’ s personnel were forced to put down the lion to prevent further mutilation of the zookeeper’ s body.
The management emphasized that Daule’ s actions were outside the park’ s standard feeding procedures, stating, ” This activity fell completely out of the standard feeding routine of the park. ” While expressing their condolences to Daule’ s family, the management assured the public that investigations had already begun and that the incident had been reported to the police for further investigation.
The management also reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards for visitors, staff, and wildlife at the park. In a related statement, the Ogun State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the details of the incident.
The Chief Security Officer of the OOPL Wildlife Park informed the police of the incident, and the remains of the deceased were taken to the State Hospital morgue at Ijaye, Abeokuta. The lion was shot by park staff in order to free Daule from its grip.
The tragic event has sparked a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the zookeeper’ s death, as authorities seek to determine the exact sequence of events that led to this unfortunate incident. The public has been assured that appropriate measures will be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Wildlife Park remains a popular attraction in Ogun State, known for its collection of exotic animals. This incident, however, serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with handling wild animals and the importance of strict adherence to safety protocols.
