BIG Panic As Another Massive PROTEST Arises Over APC Victory Against PDP In All LGAs; See Where It Happened
The recent local government elections in Kwara State have sparked sharp divisions between the People’ s Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC), led by Chairman Mohammed Baba- Okanla, announced that the APC secured victory in both the chairmanship and councillorship elections, winning all 16 local government councils and 193 wards across the state. This declaration was met with praise from the APC and protests from the opposition PDP.
On Sunday, PDP members staged a protest at the KWASIEC office in the Fate area of Ilorin, the state capital, denouncing the election results. The protestors, led by former state Commissioner Saratu Adebayo, accused the electoral commission of manipulating the outcome in favor of the APC. The demonstrators carried placards with messages like ” Kwara people say no to the continuation of bad governance led by the APC” and ” LG election results declared by KWASIEC are fake. ”

Adebayo insisted that the PDP had rightfully won the chairmanship election in all 16 local government areas but that the results were falsely awarded to the APC through alleged collusion between KWASIEC, the state government, and the ruling party. Despite their grievances, Adebayo emphasized that the PDP would continue to pursue peaceful means to challenge the results, urging KWASIEC to declare the true outcome.
In contrast, the APC celebrated its sweeping victory. APC Chairman Sunday Fagbemi expressed gratitude to the people of Kwara State for their support and confidence in the party, highlighting the peaceful conduct of the election. He also praised KWASIEC for its impartiality and quick response to procedural hitches. Fagbemi further criticized the PDP for attempting to disrupt the election process, particularly in Offa, where he claimed the opposition’ s efforts to undermine the election failed.
As both parties continue to offer contrasting perspectives on the legitimacy of the election results, the local government elections in Kwara reflect ongoing political tensions in the state, with each side asserting its claim to electoral success.
