The mysterious death of 57- year- old Bonu Fiaret, a retired nurse, in her lover’ s apartment in Badagry, Lagos State, has sparked controversy and raised suspicions. Fiaret, who had been in a relationship with 60- year- old Akodogbo for over two years, had ended the relationship due to her health condition, but rekindled it after running into each other at the Badagry community carnival.
According to sources close to the family, Fiaret had been suffering from hypertension and had been advised by her doctors to avoid stressful situations. Despite this, she had continued to see Akodogbo, who had been her lover for over two years.
After spending the night together at Akodogbo’ s one- room apartment, he woke up to find Fiaret lifeless beside him. He claimed that he had tried to wake her up, but she did not respond. Panicked, he alerted his neighbors, who advised him to contact the police.
The police were called to the scene, and Fiaret’ s body was taken to the Badagry General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The case was initially reported at the Badagry Divisional Police, but has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba, Lagos, for further investigation.
Akodogbo, a father of one, denied any involvement in Fiaret’ s death, stating that they had rekindled their romance after meeting at the carnival and had spent the night together. He claimed that he woke up to find Fiaret’ s body stiff and lifeless, and alerted his neighbors, who advised him to contact the police.
