Political thugs b£at Transition Chairman into c0ma during Primary elections
Medical personnel in Jos, Plateau’s capital, are working urgently to save the life of Hon. Christopher Audu, the Transition implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, who was reportedly assaulted by delegates during a primary election.
Reports indicate that the violence erupted following Audu’s declaration as the election winner on Thursday.
Michael Bulus, an observer, who spoke with Daily Trust disclosed that while the event began peacefully, tensions escalated when some delegates and PDP supporters, denied entry to the hall, forcibly entered and targeted Audu.
Bulus recounted that the crowd brutally attacked Audu, accusing him of manipulating the election process.
It was further alleged that Audu selected loyalists as delegates, preventing genuine delegates from participating in the election.
Following the assault, Audu was swiftly transported from Ba’ap, the Qua’an Pan LGA headquarters, to an undisclosed location for medical treatment, having sustained severe injuries.
Additionally, the enraged delegates reportedly assaulted officials from the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) who were supervising the election.
The party has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
