” Members, especially those of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, were satisfied with the presentation by the members of the Federal Executive Council, ” AbdulRazaq noted, highlighting the collective confidence in the current administration’ s direction.
Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, provided an optimistic outlook on the nation’ s economic trajectory during the meeting. He reported on the progress of macroeconomic policies under the Tinubu administration, which are centered on eight priority areas. According to Edun, the first half of 2024 has shown promising results compared to the previous year.
” The economy is growing. The balance of payments, particularly the trade balance and the currency balance, are in surplus. The exchange rate is stabilizing, and inflation, while still a concern, is slowing down and is set to fall, ” Edun reported, offering a positive assessment of Nigeria’ s economic health.
Edun also highlighted the significant involvement of both foreign and domestic investors in public- private partnerships, particularly in the infrastructure sector, which is expected to further bolster economic growth. He assured that the government’ s interventions aimed at alleviating the high cost of living, supporting the agricultural sector, and aiding small- scale businesses would continue unabated.
