BREAKING! Good- News For #EndBadGovt Protesters As Court Delivers Exciting Judgement 2 Days After Protest
Justice Peter Lifu of the Nigerian High Court has dismissed a motion aimed at preventing Nigerians from participating in #EndBadGovernance protests. The motion was filed by Danladi Goje, Buky Abayomi, Adiza, and 13 others, but it was dismissed in court today.
In his ruling, Justice Lifu stated that the protest, which had sparked widespread public attention, had already ended the previous week. He also noted that the petitioners failed to present sufficient evidence to show that the protesters intended to regroup in the future.
The court has scheduled the next hearing for August 29, 2024. However, it is important to recall that the organizers of the protest have vowed to resume their demonstrations on October 1, 2024.
In a separate development, supporters of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have been accused of being responsible for a dynamite explosion that occurred at the Rivers State Secretariat of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in Port Harcourt.
Opposition parties in the House of Representatives made the allegation following the explosion, which took place early Monday morning around 2 a. m. The blast reportedly targeted the National Chairman of the APP, Uche Nnadi, who narrowly escaped the attack.
Pictures and videos from the scene, shared by the opposition coalition, show significant damage to various parts of the building. In a statement released by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, the spokesperson for the opposition coalition and a Federal Lawmaker representing Ideato North South Federal Constituency of Imo State, the group blamed Wike’ s supporters for the incident.
Ugochinyere accused them of trying to make Rivers State ungovernable and condemned the bombing as a terrorist act driven by political extremists seeking to silence the opposition.
He also pointed out that this marks the third instance of such bombings, allegedly orchestrated by elements from Abuja who are intent on destabilizing the state. According to Ugochinyere, the motive behind the attack is to prevent the APP from winning the upcoming Rivers State election, as the party has reportedly gained significant support from the people.
Ugochinyere warned, ” This is a direct attack on our democracy. Political extremists and terrorists desperate to control Rivers State bombed the party headquarters, which had just been renovated ahead of the Rivers LGA Election, where the APP is expected to win by a landslide. ”
He called on the President and security agencies to take immediate action to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. ” These acts of terrorism are a threat to our democracy. If left unchecked, they could spiral into something far worse, ” Ugochinyere emphasized. He urged the President to act decisively, warning that history would judge his response to this growing crisis.
Ugochinyere also accused the camp of the former governor, Wike, of being afraid that the APP had become the preferred choice for voters in Rivers State, especially after the disarray within the ruling PDP and APC. He concluded by urging swift action to prevent further escalation of violence and to protect the integrity of the upcoming elections.
