SAD! Lifeless Bodies Of Couple Alongside Five Children Found Scattered Inside Apartment, See What Took Their Lives
There have apparently been seven deaths in the Shagari Local Government Area LGA of Sokoto due to consumption of poisoned cassava delicacies by members of the same family in the Runjin Barmo hamlet of Kajiji District.

On Sunday evening, 11th August 2024, this unfortunate and sad incident was contained in a press report signed by the Information Officer, Sokoto State Ministry of Health, Nura Bello, on behalf of the Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, when approached for comments regarding what happened.
According to the claim from a reliable source, the victims ate the cassava meal for dinner as confirmed by the village chief, Malam Muhammadu Modi, who was telling the story of the occurrence to the Balarabe, who had brought a large delegation to the region.
Throwing more light on the occurrence, he explained saying, ” the victims comprised the father, Malam Abubakar, his wife, A’ ishatu Abubakar and their five children” .
” The incident happened last Wednesday and the cause of the death is actually yet to be confirmed” .
” He said this was because the suspected cassava had been used by about four houses in the village and no case of illness was recorded in those houses” , he claimed.
In addition, the village head expressed gratitude to Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, the state governor, on behalf of the people for expressing sympathy to them in that regard.
The police commissioner went on to say that, one surviving teenager who was lucky to still to be alive after consuming the alleged cassava meal would be taken to the nearest hospital so that samples can taken by the ministry to unravel the cause of the deaths of the deceased victims.
Meanwhile, she expressed her sincere condolences to the public on behalf of the state governor, and she prayed to Allah for forgiveness for those who lost their lives in the disaster.
She took use of the occasion to urge people to report any unusual disease in their areas as soon as possible so that the ministry can take appropriate action.
Sani Bello Tambuwal, the Shagari Local Government Area’ s Director of Health, expressed gratitude to the commissioner for her care and expressed the hope that the effort would continue.
The State Hospital Services Management Board Executive Director, Dr. Bello Abubakar Attahiru, a few directors, and additional ministry employees accompanied the commissioner on the visit to the above- mentioned community where the fatalities occurred.
