Abana popularly known as Magic died in his country home, Nri in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State at the age of 75.
It would be recalled that the 75-year-old Abana had been bedridden as a result of acute arthritis and had been confined to a wheelchair for over five years.
His wife, Mrs. Gertrude Abana had narrated that Abana health issues started in 2022 after he suffered what was later diagnosed to be stroke.
She said that Abana was rushed to the General Hospital, Enugu-Ukwu, but the doctors on duty could not manage him until they were referred to the specialist hospital.
She said that her husband had undergone a series of tests which showed that it was a case of stroke.
Uche Okafor, a neurosurgeon at the hospital had confirmed that Abana was hit by partial stroke and however said that the case was manageable and needed progressive management for him to recover.
Magic had battled a debilitating ailment which made him unable to move his lower limb and confined him to his chair at upper floor of his one storey building in Nri town.
Daily Sun reports that through the instrumentality of Arthur Ebonam, Sen. Stella Oduah donated a wheelchair to him which was delivered by Odi Ikoeazh.
About two years ago, he sought assistance for medical treatment and later had one of his legs amputated at Eldorado Hospital, after which he recorded a significant recovery before the news of his death in the early hours of Sunday.
