ENTERTAINMENT: DJ Khaled Finds Inspiration in Afrobeats, Reveals Collaborations with Burna Boy, Tems
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, renowned American disc jockey and music executive DJ Khaled shared his newfound inspiration drawn from Afrobeats music. He expressed a deep connection and a sense of inspiration, similar to the one he feels with the dancehall genre.
DJ Khaled, known for hits like ‘Another One,’ enthusiastically revealed that Afrobeats star Burna Boy would be a featured artist on his upcoming 14th studio album, ‘Til Next Time,’ which is expected to be released in 2024. This collaboration promises to blend the vibrant sounds of Afrobeats with DJ Khaled’s signature style.
But Burna Boy isn’t the only Afrobeats artist DJ Khaled is excited to work with. He expressed his desire to collaborate with Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems. Tems, a Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated artist, has gained international recognition for her distinctive sound.
During the interview, DJ Khaled also shed light on a lighthearted family joke: his parents sometimes playfully suggest that he should run for president. However, he made it clear that he has never been interested in pursuing a political career. Instead, DJ Khaled’s focus remains on spreading love, working hard, and being a source of positivity through his music and influence, choosing to prioritize solutions and unity over political endeavors.
