WONDERS Shall Never End! Two Men Sneak Into Cemetery At Night, Cut Off Breasts Of Dead Woman After Exhuming Her Corpse
Two men, Adekunle Fatai, 40, and Sabitu Kolapo, 33, have been placed under arrest at a correctional institution in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a remarkable occurrence. They are accused of putting a gun to a dead woman’s corpse and removing her breasts. The culprit was reportedly charged by the Iyaganku Magistrate Court. The Oyo State Criminal Laws provide foundation for these charges, which include conspiracy, tampering with a corpse, and illicit gun ownership.
The prosecution’s Inspector Elisha Tellang asserts that the offences were committed in Gbedun village, Ibadan, on July 13, 2024, at approximately 11:35 p.m. The inspector described in great detail the alleged preparations of Fatai and Kolapo to dig up Oyindamola Olosunde’s remains. When they were discovered and turned over to the authorities, the act of slicing off her left breast was stopped. Inspector Tellang went on to say that at the time of the suspects’ arrest, a firearm was discovered in their possession without authorisation.
The accusations made against them grew stronger as a result. The prosecution specifically mentioned Sections 6(b) and 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act of Nigeria, 2004 as well as Sections 517 and 242(1)(b) of the Oyo State, 2000 Criminal Code. These laws deal with firearms crimes, body desecration, and different sorts of robbery. Presiding Magistrate Mrs. M. Olagbenro denied the defendants’ pleas, stating that the court lacked jurisdiction to consider such serious charges. Rather, she directed the case file to be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (D.P.P.) and that legal counsel be sought.
At this point, it is decided whether to send the case to a higher court with the authority to consider matters like these, like the High Court. The new date for the case is October 29, 2024, pending the D.P.P.’s advice. The next steps, including whether or not the case is transferred to the High Court for a trial, will be greatly influenced by the impending legal advice.
