A 23- year- old Islamic school instructor, Yusuf Yunusa, has been apprehended by the Jigawa State Police Command for allegedly committing sodomy with 12 of his pupils in Gwaram Local Government Area of the state. The state’ s Police Commissioner, A. T.
Abdullahi, revealed this information while presenting the suspect and others at the command’ s headquarters in Dutse on Wednesday.
According to the Commissioner said on July 11, 2024, at approximately 9: 00 PM, the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters received a report that, earlier that day at around 2: 00 PM, Yusuf Yunusa, a 23- year- old teacher at an Almajiri Islamic school in Gwaram town, had developed a disturbing habit of taking some of his students to various locations and forcing them to engage in explicit and harmful acts such sucking his manhood and asking them to swallow his semen.
Upon receiving this disturbing and alarming report, detectives from the Gwaram Division promptly launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect, who was then brought in for questioning and further inquiry.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) revealed that a medical examination confirmed the crime had been committed against 10 out of the 12 victims. He stated that the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse for a thorough and discreet investigation.
According to the CP, the suspect has admitted to committing the crime and will soon face charges in court. In a related development, the police command reported that it had also apprehended numerous suspected criminals between April and July 2024, including 25 alleged armed robbers, six suspected kidnappers, and 39 alleged rapists.
Additionally, the command arrested 83 suspects for culpable homicide, 18 suspected vandals, 58 alleged thieves, 101 suspected drug traffickers and users, and three alleged fraudsters.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) revealed that the following items were seized from the suspects: two makeshift pistols, two locally- made guns, five rounds of ammunition, and live cartridges for a pump- action rifle.
Additionally, the police recovered 12 mobile phones, 14 motorcycles, two cars, one three- wheeled vehicle (tricycle), six cattle, a large quantity of stolen cable and armored wire, parts of a vandalized transformer, and a sum of N792, 000 in cash.
